GEEK, Kent’s only festival of play and gaming, moves to the home of play, Dreamland in Margate on 17-19th of February. Packed with future technology and retro favourites, GEEK celebrates all aspects of gaming and is the ultimate fun family event for February half term! There is no better place for GEEK to be at than at Dreamland, the UK’s original pleasure park.
Attendants will have the chance to try out some cutting edge virtual-reality powered rides using technology such as The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. There will also be a chance to see some of the original artwork from the iconic 2000AD comics as part of the title’s 40th anniversary. But as far as we’re concerned, the most exciting thing to be found at Dreamland during GEEK is the real-life Mario Kart that will be taking place in Dreamland bumper cars…O.M.G! It’s the 25th anniversary of the legendary Nintendo game and to commemorate it the organisers of GEEK will be inviting guests to take part in a real-world Mario Kart tournament, where the champion will be awarded with the brand new Nintendo Switch console.
Over 4000 people are expected to attend over the three days of the festival and 25 retro game tournaments will be taking place as well as a host of other exciting and fun activities. This looks like an ideal day out for gaming fans of all ages.
