heDD Team January 5, 2017 Music Comments Off on Funk/Soul brass band Broken Brass Ensemble releases a BANGER on Vinyl

Broken Brass Ensemble’s new single, set to release in a couple of short weeks is a head-bumping toe-tapping triumph!

The eight-piece Broken Brass Ensemble are an established brass band, with a worldwide following thanks to their entertaining live performances and energetic tracks, that translate beautifully on both live and recorded formats. They’ve conquered most of Europe by maintaining an omnipresence with slots on Jazz á Vienne, Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Kendall Calling, Green Man, Fusion Festival, and more. And in addition, the globetrotting act has sold out UK venues in Manchester, London, Exeter and Norwich, with airtime from Reform RadioCraig Charles Funk and Soul Show, BBC Radio 4 and Radio Decibel, so Broken Brass Ensemble is a name you should already know, but if you don’t, thank us later

John Gittins from the label Stutter & Twitch had this to say about the band’s upcoming single:

As our singles are exclusive to vinyl, we look to find the best world music for Side A to pair with exceptional electronica remixes from up-and-coming producers on Side B.  This release’s remix consists of a dark and ambient track, courtesy of Sam Vicary of The Cinematic Orchestra, and we have some even bigger names lined up for 2017.”

With that said and their killer single ‘Hitchhiker‘ still ringing in our ears we’re excited and expecting big things from Broken Brass Ensemble in 2017; definitely one to watch. The band’s latest vinyl release titled STR003 and featuring Hitchhiker on its A-side will soar into stores January 26th, setting a warm and hopeful precedent for the New Year.  While the equally thematic B-side contains an exclusive Hunrosa remix (Sam Vicary of Cinematic Orchestra) in the form of ‘Windsurfing’. Hunrosa actively contorts Broken Brass’ spatial image through an ambient, electronic and down-tempo journey without compromising on the band’s signature raucous tone.
